Time goes by too fast sometimes, and today’s one of those days. As I’m writing this, it’s already November. While many people talk about fall moving in, I just want to say, “Slow down and enjoy the moment, the day, the beautiful summer sunsets and nights. Slow down as the calendar turns and enjoy each day.”
Lately, I’ve been spending more time on the road as my speaking schedule expands across the Midwest. While on the road I like to drive right around the speed limit. I try to slow down, sing a song, or call a friend to catch up. Everyone around me seems to be in such a hurry to get somewhere, anywhere, and I wonder “What’s the hurry?” Cars want to run you down if you’re not going ten or more miles per hour over the speed limit. I might not be the safest driver, but I know a car’s power and would rather leave extra space to avoid an accident. When someone rides my tail, I think, “Go ahead, I’m happy to move over, just give me a moment.”
However, I want another sort of slow down today. I want a moment to stop, pay attention, love, pray, celebrate, and mourn. Life keeps moving forward whether we do or not. Today is a sweet friend’s birthday and though she might feel older she will always be younger than I am. Another friend is preparing to dissolve a destructive marriage and another wonderful friend is preparing for surgery. I wish I could have the day with each of them to love, celebrate, encourage and support them on their journeys. We can’t slow down time, but we can be intentional with our words, actions, and how we spend our moments. I hope you take a moment today to slow down and just breathe. Then, call someone you care about and tell them, or take a moment and write them a handwritten note or card. Share the love, be present in the moment, and cherish those you love.
On the week of Thanksgiving I love to write personal notes of graditude to those that have been a positive impact in my life over the past year. Who has seen you, loved you, supported you personally & professionally in 2017? How do you express and share your graditude during Thanksgiving week? Do you offer up extra prayers of Graditude, do you go around the table and share what you are grateful for, Do you write out thank you cards, do you slow down and make those phone calls you have been meaning to for weeks? I so love this week, all the kids come home and we spend the day cooking together. Each child has their specialty and it brings me such JOY to watch them work together & support each other in trying new recipes. So Fun ; ) What are you most grateful for?
Share with me what you love most about Thanksgiving, How you celebrate, What your traditions are or What you are most Thankful for and the first 5 people to share will recieve a FREE download of my audio book. Wishing you much JOY, many BLESSINGS and a Grateful HEART this week and all year Through! #BetheException
